Hi
My dad's uncle was in the Boer War and this is the only photo we have of him in uniform. We have been trying to find out his regiment and number. His name is Richard Ashton and the photo is of him and his father. They lived in the Blackley area of Manchester, a farmer's son.

Hi Margaret52,

Based on what you have said I suspect this is him.

Ashton Richard, Regimental number 22690, Rank Trooper Source: QSA Medal Rolls

The 77th (Manchester) Company, 8th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry was raised in 1900, sponsored by Lancashire Hussars; disbanded 1900.
