Hi there,
I inherited some items belonging to a medical Cpl George William Munton.He served in the SAC from 1902-05. He was referred to the SAC from the Hants Yeomanry. I have goolesearched the web until i'm crosseyed . This site seems to offer a good cross section of knowledge so i'm hoping to tap into it.

I have numerous letters of referral from various commanding officers, plus his discharge certificate signed in Pretoria by Sam Steele. I also have his uniform jacket with stripes,belt and cap badge and a large unit photo and 2 smaller photos of him in uniform.

I would ideally like to put together a history combining all the paperwork with some more information from archives.

I hope someone may be able to steer me in the right direction. I am getting quite absorbed in the history surrounding Med Cpl Munton.

The records of the SA Constabulary are in South Africa, if I were you you I would speak to Audrey Portman, rhino.research@icon.co.za she would be able to send you copies of both record cards and any service file that exists today.
With regards to Sam Steele, I think Mike, QSAMIKE, is the person to speak to on here! select Private Message notifier on the left of the screen to send him a PM regarding Steele who was quite a character!
Welcome to this forum and good luck with your research, I am sure we would all like to see a photo of the items you mention if possible.

Thanks Frank for the reply, I have quite a few items and have scanned amd have loaded them into photobucket. I have found some more bits and pieces today whilst sorting through papers...
