How can I tell if the second initial was "erased" at issue. It seems so? only the J now visible

you’ll see 18 J van der Walt medal recipients, some with a second initial. Can I politely enquire: Why do you think that Vorm B is the one linked to your medal?

Thank you Rob. I cannot say for sure. It looks like type C as per date issued. And he wrote to aske when asked he is getting his medal. The official then wrote him back and said it was already sent per registered post. My theory is that he received the medal with the erased initial and was unhappy about it. So, my main question is: Where these medals corrected like this (erasing/correcting) an initial at issue?

With relatively few ABOs being issued and the usually single source of information for naming ie the application, it is rare to see officially renamed medals. If you search the Forum for 'officially' and then select the ABO category, you can see the ones that have so far been recorded.
