I thought it appropriate to mention that today is the 125th anniversary of the start of the ABW. It makes me feel old to think that my first visit to the battlefields was on and around the 91st anniversary in 1990!

Hi David, I was thinking the same as well.

I think the Talana museum is doing their annual Ghost Walk up Talana Hill on the 20th Oct; that would be pretty neat to do.

Visited the battlefields of phase 1 for the first time this year, it was a surreal feeling to be standing on Koornspruit at the time the battle was raging 124 years ago.
It was interesting to note that there were graves there not listed as being casualties but these could have been later internments from another area. The battlefield looked relatively untouched since then with only cattle have grazed on it.
I will be back there but most likely in July.
