TOPIC:

Firstly thank you for allowing me to join the site and forum. My interest is a mainly a generic one through research over the years for both my own and other families over the years and coming across soldiers who have served in the Boer war. Most recently this interest went a little deeper when in 2022 I discovered that my Great Grandmother Susannah Firth had a cousin who was the first Sheffield born soldier to win a VC which was in the Boer War. He was James Firth and I am still in the process of re-writing parts of his biography as a number of facts over the years about his ancestry are slightly incorrect.

I'll be popping in and may be asking questions as I go if I have a need and having a snoop around. You never know I may at some point be able to help someon on the site.
