YORK ARMY MUSEUM,
3 TOWER STREET,
YORK,
YO1 9SB.
ENGLAND.

On a recent first visit to the historic city of York, I made a visit to the York Army Museum.
Therein can be found the history of the Prince of Wales' Regiment of Yorkshire and the Royal Dragoon Guards.
While there are not the huge displays of medals as exhibited in the cabinets of other regimental museums I have visited (Brecon, Liverpool, Edinburgh Castle etc.), I would still recommend the time to visit if you are in the city (car park directly opposite).

I hope the following images may be of interest to the forum

Flag from the Siege of Ladysmith presented by Lieutenant Colonel W F A Finlay.

London Evening Standard news-stand bill.

QSA and Polar Exploration medal to Captain L E G Oates of Captain Robert Falcon Scott's doomed Antarctic Expedition.

Brass memorial plaque to men of the 7th Dragoon Guards who died on campaign in South Africa.

Painted ostrich eggs brought home as souvenirs.

Within the same cabinet.

The South Africa Victory Cup. Please note the Geddes rifle to the left of the silverware.
