Thank you for accepting me to the forum.

I have been researching my great grandfather William (Bill) Price from Wolverhampton whom I have been told fought in the Boar War.
Has anyone come across his name by any chance? I know it's a long shot as I don't know what regiment he would have been in.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Being from Wolverhampton, he may have served with the South Staffordshire Regiment.
I'll have a search....
Cheers Steve

Hi Moonsprite
Welcome to the forum.
Is it possible for you to share more details regarding your Great Grandfather?
Date of birth, address, mothers name, profession etc. The more details, the more chance the forum may be able to help.

Best wishes

Dave......
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,

Hi Moonsprite,

I have found a couple of possibles via Findmypast. A search for a William Price who served with the South Staffs Regt around the period and were born in the Wolverhampton area as follows:

9594 Private William Price, a Collier who was born in Darlaston and lived at Thomas Smith's, The Big House, Blakenhall, Bloxwich.

6139 Private William Albert Price. born in 1882 at Bilston, Staffordshire. He was a labourer who worked for a William Nock in Bilston.
He resided at 4 Timber Yard, Wednesbury, Staffordshire.

Please let us know if these are likely to be your relative.

There were another three William Prices, but they all hailed from the Birmingham or Smethwick area.

William (Bill) Price. No actual birth date but was baptised in 1858. In the 1911 census he was down as aged 43 years.

William was a publican of The Colonel Vernon, 88 North Street, Wolverhampton.

His parents were George Price and Eliza Price.
