In a recent article in our local East Devon paper there was a story behind the location of a school memorial to former local pupils from Honiton who had served and lost their lives in the Boer War. 1899-1902. The museum curator kindly sent a photo of the memorial with apologies, but due to light reflections it was not readable. I have subsequently visited and recorded the names from the beautiful brass memorial which I have listed below, not knowing if there is already a record somewhere on this website.

PEO Brind Sergt Gordon Highlanders
AW Brown Capt Suffolk Regiment
A Cameron DSO Lieut Gordon Highlanders
H Mann Capt Thornycrofts Mounted Infantry
F Richardson Lance Sergt 37th Co Imperial Yeomanry
HWS Robinson Lieut Manchester Regt
HS Sandford Capt Indian Staff Corps
PW Tindal-Atkinson Lieut RN
AV West 2nd Lieut Royal Berks Regiment

I found it interesting that bar two, they were all serving in different regiments having apparently been from local families .

Are there any particular service record details which might be of interest to the museum curator ?

I had a quick look through the Palmer Casualty roll and located most of those recorded on first pass. Some of the bios for the officers listed are quite extensive - and quite interesting - and I can post them if you wish. An alternative for the museum curator might be to access a book "In Memoriam" ; from which Palmer derived his info.
Let me know if you want them posted.

For example, attached is a cut from Palmer concerning Capt. Mann of TMI. Sorry about the crooked image; the book's binding does not help!

Hello Linneyl
Thanks for posting the In Memoriam example
Whilst not relating to the Allhallows memorial,
I am currently looking for any detail on a Boer War casualty from our village and would appreciate learning of any information relating to - John Batten, 5065, Prince Alberts Somerset Light Infantry, died of disease 30 December 1900 and buried at Springfontein. KSA with clasps for Releif of Ladysmith, Tugula Heights, Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transval
He had two younger brothers who served in the Great War with only one surviving and returning home.
Thanks for all your great work
Clive
