Hi all, my name is Richard Scrimshaw and I am trying to find more details about two men who seem to have fought in the Boer War, but I am not certain as I can find no details of their address when they enlisted. They, I think, are two of my maternal grandfather's brothers, They were John Maddison Dring and Harry Dring. I have found two entries that could match - there is a J M Dring - service number 33759 - a private in the 11th Battalion of the Imperial Yeomanry and a Harry Dring - service number 2201 - a private in 4th Battalion of the Imperial Yeomanry. That is my main reason for joining - I would like to enlist the help of anyone on the site who could help me confirm my research and also find out if they were in the war, where they served and what action they fought in if possible.

I am delighted to say that all my questions have been answered through my contacting your site. One of your colleagues put me in touch with a counterpart in South Africa and he has come up with more information than I could have wished for, So thank you very much indeed.
