Evyn,

The roll only appears to show CC.

The tick in the Driefontein column is not a clasp entitlement but the mark that appears at the end of all the names, perhaps when they had been processed.

I cannot find a supplementary page for him. They may contain OFS but would not include Joh and DH.

How do the rivets on the medal look?

Kind regards
David

Hello David / Adrian
I have a Cape Police QSA medal group to 819 Pte E H Jenner with 5th SAMR trio.
I'd welcome a QSA medal roll copy please.
I have his WW1 papers and his SAP transfer letter dd. Nov 1916.
On the QSA, the 'Cape Police' name is followed by CTG, what does that mean?
Thank you for the assistance.

Hi Evyn,

Any chance of posting a few pictures of the naming on Jenner's medal and of Thorne's medal showing the rivets attaching the clasps ?

Thanks

Hello Evyn,

The CTG you mention indicates that he was part of the Cape Police Special Contingent. I have a few attestation papers to these guys and most seem to have only signed up for a 1 year period as apposed to the normal 3 years period. This seems to have been very common during the war years and I suspect they were used to bolster the ranks what with many men tied up in Kimberley and or Mafeking.

He also served in the Vryburg T.G and Dennison's Scouts.

Here is his page.

Thanks
