Hello
Does anyone know if the Matabeleland Mounted Police used attestation forms or something similar in the 1890s, and if it did where might I start looking for them? I am trying to find out more about my grandfather.
Many thanks for any clues
Chris

Thank you so much for those records, sorry I did not reply sooner, I did not receive a notification that you had attached them.

Thank you to everyone here who is helping me with records for James Kearney, I have managed to find someone who is going to do some research for me in Kimberley for my James Kearney, hopefully with whatever they find I can connect and confirm that this James Kearney is the one I am searching for.
As soon as I get the report from Kimberley I will let you know what the findings were.

Many thanks
Sharleen

David

Well, this is a mystery now, if he was still in service till June 1902, yet on the affidavit, he was referred to as the late James Kearney !!!!!
Who knows maybe the daughter wanted to get married without her fathers' consent.......
I have found someone to do research for me in Kimberley for James Kearney, I am hoping whatever he finds will help to confirm if this is my James Kearney
or not and if he, then he is my x2 great grandfather.
I am sure it is the same person, but I want to confirm before searching further !!

Thank you again, I will let you know once I have a report on the findings in Kimberley.

Regards
Sharleen
