Just an update, unfortunately, I am still waiting for the person who is doing research for me on James Kearney in Kimberley to get back to me.
I have in the meantime found this attachment and I think it could be the same James Kearney, am I correct in reading next to his name it says

Depending on the date of this document, I would be inclined to say it read Sergt 86th Regiment

It is the registration of a birth in Ireland 1875, I was wondering if it was the same regiment stated on the Attestation form for James Kearney from Kimberley ?
