My Grandfather served with Loch's Horse in the 2nd Boer War. He is entitled to the Queens South Africa Medal with three clasps. I know that his medals (including WW1 medals) were sold about 30 years ago. Can anyone suggest how I might go about finding who has them?

First, welcome to the Forum. To start looking for your GF's medals, you might post his name and number when he was In Loch's Horse and - you never know - one of our members might have it/them. Failing that, you might place an ad in Medal News and see what turns up. It might also be possible to trawl through the archives of Medal Auction dealers. Frankly, you have a job in front of you. However, if you know his medals were around in the mid 80's, there is a good chance they may still be around.
Good luck with your quest
Regards
IL.

Does anyone have - or know the whereabouts of the Queen's South Africa medal of: Trooper Cottrell, Reginald Bristowe, Loch's Horse, Regimental number 192?
It is possible that the QSA medal is still with his 3 WW1 medals, when he was Capt R B Cottrell, Army Pay Dept.
