Hello forum members . I am a 60 year old retired Group Accounts Manager from South Yorkshire. My main interest is the Great War and have recently completed research into the men named on the memorial of my old school Rotherham Grammar. The Secretary of the Old Boys Association asked if I could look at the men named on the Boer War memorial. After further investigation it would appear that of the 14 men named only 2 were casualties . The "memorial" would better be described as a Roll of Honour.
Early days yet but I look forward to exploring this forum

One of your fellow Old Boys has been to Rotherham archives about researching the names on the WW1 memorial and I mentioned to him that if anyone was interested in the Boer war names to contact us. We already have a lot of info on the local men who served in the Boer war including those on the Grammar School Memorial so if you come to the archives (at Clifton Park Museum) on Saturday or Wednesday mornings we are there from 10am to 1pm and will be happy to help and pass on what we have. It would be a shame to duplicate work!

I think it was someone called Beevers who we saw before Christmas about the WW1 names. If you ask the archivists for Andy and Jayne they will point us out.

Thanks I have completed my research of WW1 names onthe RGS memorial and passed it on to the Old Boys Association . Steve Beevers asked if i could look at the Boer War men which i have just started on.
He also enquired about the WW2 men but I have pointed him to the research already done by Mac of Rotherham war memorials site.
I have used the Roth Archives fairly frequently and found the staff to be most helpful.
