Hi, apologies if I have posted in the wrong place ?
My name is Denise .
Some Boer war medals and a few othe bits have been handed down to me.
In the collection there is a small coin/medal .
It has a soldier holing a rifle on one side with the inscription
'The national commemorative medal' 1899-1900.
The other side has a long inscription-
This medal commemorates the magnificent response of britain's sons to the empire's call to arm's Transvaal war 1899-1900.
a small inscription across the bottom says-
Daily Mail Kipling poem .
Across the top- The queen God bless . any info about this and a possible valuation would be much appreciated.

Yes you are right its the so called "Absent Minded Begger" medal. It was made to collect funds for the war. worth about R 2000 to R 3000 rand. They are fairly available in the market. I have the miniature worth about R 1700 to R 2500. Regards , gert
