I have found his death cert and he died 23rd march 1936 and he is listed as an Army Pensioner, it didn't say he died of war wounds so that bit of info was wrong.

I have an update.. I had someone from the RDF site look for my Grandfather and he came up with this..
T. Maher 1899-1902 2nd Boer War 2nd Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers Reg no. 1687 Hopefully this is the right Thomas.
