Sacrilege I would say.

The India 1895 Medal to 1051 Reginald Launcelot Cunningham was the first of 6 medals he was awarded, the others being a QSA, British Star 1914-1915, British War Medal, Allied Victory Medal & DCM (gazetted 12/03/1919 according to his service records but I cannot find it).

He enlisted in the Rifle Brigade on 2 February 1891 as an alleged 14 year old Musician measuring 4ft 8 inches. The clarinet was his instrument.

He was wounded four times whilst serving on the Western Front during the Great War:
GSW Right Arm 04/02/1916
Bayonet Wound Right Eye 30/06/1916
GSW Right Leg 15/03/1917
GSW Left Arm (mild) 02/11/1918
For the first three he was invalided home but came back for more.

He spent most of the South African War 1899-1902 based in India but sailed for SA on 14/02/1902 and arrived back in England on 20/10/1902. His service record says his QSA bore two clasps (Transvaal & SA1902) but the 1st Battalion Medal Roll only has a tick against SA1902.

He was born in Sheffield on 27 April 1877 meaning he was actually 13 years and 10 months when he first enlisted. He died on 2 January 1950 of Broncho-pneumonia despite having moved south to Bournemouth before WW2.
