Anyone shed light on this publication from Harmsworth Brothers? Issued as a weekly publication? Around March 1901 I think. By H.W. Wilson. Thanks.

Thank you. I have seen that but in book form was it 2 volumes? I have also seen part publications...seemingly weekly and priced at one shillong and sixpence. Did these weekly publications come before they were issued in book form? Cheers.

Not sure on the order of publication. But it is possible that the individual magazines were published first. Then, perhaps a compiled volume of 4 hardbacks followed?
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

"With the Flag to Pretoria" and "After the Guerrilla War" were issued in weekly parts. Towards the end of the series, Harmsworth Bros advertised bindings (together with title pages and maps), which could be purchased by individuals for 2s 6d, so that they could have their sets bound into volumes. The covers of the magazines were removed during the binding process.

Occasionally sets turn up which include the bindings but which have not been bound.

Many binderies offered "superior" alternatives to the Harmsworth Brothers cases. Thus, "With the Flag" is regularly seen with covers other than those shown above.
