Kine, 1587 Sapper A W, Royal Engineers | QSA (4) Tal DoL LN Belf, KSA (2) | 23rd Field Company.

Described as:

Boer War an interesting soldiers book 1587 Arthur William Kine RE enlisted 1898 served SA at Talana and Defence of Ladysmith etc, plus parchment discharge certificate and a letter dated 2/11/1899 from Ladysmith referencing close shaves especially when his haversack was blown off his back and bayonet bent by shrapnel. He survived unhurt, he relates to his Mother she might read about it. The bayonet possibly might be in the RE Museum, he refers as his Major wanted to save it. Very interesting letter.
