TOPIC:

Punch or The London Charivari was a weekly humourous and satirical magazine established in 1841 by Henry Mayhew and engraver Ebenezer Landells. The magazine established the cartoon in it meaning of a humour illustration in the mid 19th Century.

This cartoon highlights the cost of the war in 1901 and how little there was to show for it. The cost of £55m is mentioned. The total cost of the war was estimated at over £200m.
