Gents, thank you for the kind words. Boer War Research is a bit like having cooking based on a tattered and incomplete 125-year-old cookbook for a hobby; it’s more fun when you can share the results with other people. They mostly enjoy it, when necessary tell you it tasted like a carton box and often make the dish much tastier by suggesting additional ingredients. In the end we all eat better.

Congratulations EFV; you have defined opened my eyes to areas of the Boer War that I had no idea about.

I like the gastronomic analogy of our hobby! Have learned so much about a broader outlook of the conflict from your knowledgeable and often humourous threads/posts.
It is definitely about more than collecting medals!
