Berenice,

Another excellent post - thank you!

I hadn't seen that site devoted to the SJAB Medal so thank you for that too.

Best wishes
David

I looked up AMDG as I did not know what it meant.

The abbreviation stands for Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam which is Latin for To the Greater Glory of God.

Thank you for looking that up, David, I'd meant to do it myself eventually.

I was curious as to whether there's a national St John Ambulance Brigade memorial for all or any conflicts which is how I found the S.A. War Medal website. Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be a national memorial for the SJAB.

Berenice,

I had not seen that abbreviation anywhere before so that was something new for me too.

I haven't seen any memorial to the SJAB. I have emailed the SJA to ask if they know of such a memorial.

Best wishes

I must admit the SJAB HQ records are a bit misleading I questioned a Great Uncles records Pte William Harold Prescott Preston Corps and they came back with inaccurate information when I questioned it I never got a reply.
a plaque was sited in the Old Preston Hospital not demolished but the plaque is in the Preston SJAB HQ
