Hello
Thank you for the old photos of the Col-Sgt G Wood's grave DOD 23 Feb 1901 in the Vet River Railway Station and Bridge cemetery, only 6/7 Kms south of the town of Theunissen in the Free State .
Theunissen was originally known as Smaldeel which was the railway station's name at the time of the ABW.
The other graves at Vet River are:
65 Batt R A - Gnr W Matthews DOD 19 Jan 1901
E Lanc 1st Batt Pvt R Greenwood DOD 1Jan 1901
E Lanc 3rd Batt Pvt J Kelly DOD 1 Jan 1901 and Pvt J Hargreaves DOD 16 Jan 1901
E Kent Rgt Pvt A Beard DOD 26 June 1901
Today these graves have almost completely been desecrated by the passing of time
I hope this is of interest to other Forum members
