The farmer who owns Spion Kop battlefield is looking to sell the land. It comprises a farm house at the foot of Conical Hill, and the entire battlefield, including Aloe Knoll. About 200 hectares / 500 acres in extent. .It is bounded on two sides by the game fence of Spion Kop nature reserve. He is asking for R8 million, which is about £350,000 and is willing to manage the land on behalf of the new owner.
The farmhouse could be configured as a bed and breakfast, but would need considerable renovation. If anyone knows an organisation such as the Lancashire Fusiliers, who might be interested in purchasing the property, please let them know..
