Thanks, Dave, much appreciated. I couldn't find out anything about him, will need to get in Oxford Local Studies one day to look up the local papers.

Hi Berenice

A couple of snippets regarding Robert Blake.
He was born in 1862 Jul/Aug/Sept in Headington. Oxford
Baptised in November 1862 in the parish of St Michaels, family living at Park Town. His trade recorded when he was 18 was a paper makers clerk. His father John C was a wine merchant. Looking at his will and probate entry he was living at Southover Lewes before his demise in South Africa. He left his estate to his elder sister Rosa Catherine.
