Oxford Imperial Yeomanry Memorial Plaques 1 year 11 months ago #82901

My apologies if these memorial plaques have been covered  before on the forum. They are located at Christ Church Cathedral, St Aldates,Oxford, Oxfordshire. They are dedicated to the Imperial Yeomanry regiments raised in Oxford in1900.
I have added some additional information regarding the casualties for reference.

I would like to thank my niece Amy for taking time out from her masters degree at Oxford to take and forward her Uncle D the two photographs.



Lieutenant George Demoke Green - KIA - 31/09/1900 at Modderfontein interred at Potchefstroom.

Corporal 8136 George Henry Turner – DoD - 19/01/1902 at Ladybrand, interred at Ladybrand.

Private 8143 Frank Graham Twiss - DoD - 30/05/1900 at Hoopstaad, interred at Hoopstaad.

Private 8150 George Roland Brook – KIA – 07/06/1900 at Helibron, interred at Helibron.

Private 8045 George Boyes - DoW – 21/08/ 1900 at Fredrickstad, interred at Johannesburg.

Private 8047 Arthur Thomas Beeching – DoW 15/02/1901 at Modderfontein interred Krugersdorp.

Private 8051 Michael Bond - DoD – 18/08/1900 at Kroonstad interred at Kroonstad.

Private 8075 Francis Walter Ford – DoW – 04/09/1900 at Kraalkop interred at Potchefstroom.

Private 8090 Henry Jackson – DoD -25/05/1900 at Boshof, interred at Boshof.

Sergeant 8092 Daniel Legge – DoD – 22/04/1901 at Krugersdorp, interred at Krugersdorp

 Private 8112 Charles Reginald Plim – KIA – 28/04/1902 at Steinkop, (No ref regarding resting place)

 Private 8141 Charles Toller – DoW – 30/06/1900 at Lindley, interred at Helibron

 Private 8147 Edward Welchman – DoD- 15/06/1900 at Kroonstad, interred at Kroonstad.

It is sweet and fitting to die for the homeland

( I'm not sure if their loved ones would have agreed with the above sentiment?)
