FELL IN ACTION AT PETER'S HILL, S.A.
FEB. 22ND 1900, AGED 18 YEARS.

The other names on the gravestone, in Southern Cemetery, Manchester, are William Harrison, his wife, Ann, and their son, Private Thomas A. Harrison, who died in France, on 19th December 1914. Percy must have been a relation, but there's no indication in what way.

Does anyone have any information on him, please?

That's a good spot down in the grass.

It is not crystal clear but the only Craig killed that day was Pte 5545 Robert Craig 2nd Royal Lancasters. Happily his papers survive and his next of kin is "Mother Mrs Harrison, 75 Church St, Hulme, Manchester". He enlisted age 18 in 1897, as his age on the grave is given as '18' perhaps he enlisted under age.

Not sure where the name "Percy" fits in, the census may reveal.

That's great, thanks. At least we now know he had a definite connection with Manchester, so it's possible that the Manchester newspapers reported his death. Something to check up on one day.
