HAMILTON. - Mortally wounded in action 29th June at Kromellenboog, South Africa, died 1st July, Harry Rice Hamilton, S.A.C., and late Captain 4th Manchester Regoment, eldest son of Mrs Hamilton, of Westward Ho!

Hamilton H R Lieutenant Demise: Died of wounds 30 Jun 1901
Place: Erasmushoop + Petrusburg

Hamilton Henry / Harry Rice, Lieutenant. He was dangerously wounded June 29th, 1901, and died July 1st at Kromellenboorg. He was educated at the United Services College, Westward Ho (1874-77). Lieutenant Hamilton served in Methuen's Horse in 1884-85, and subsequently held a captain's commission in the 4th Battalion Manchester Regiment. His name was inscribed on a memorial tablet in his old college at Westward Ho.


Medal roll W0100 / 273 South Africa  Constabulary E Division. Lieutenant H R Hamilton 3 clasps Cape Colony & Orange Free State & Rhodesia. Margin remarks. Lieutenant Rhodesian Regiment.

 Resided in Bulawayo, Matabeleland.  Probate London, 8th January to Edith Hamilton, widow, Effects,  £1092 .10 shillings.
