Retention of medals of those deceased

War Medals and D E Medals of deceased, NCO and men whose legal representatives cannot be found, may be kept by the Depots of the Regiments to which they belonged as mementos of their gallant conduct.

I bet this is how many regimental museums obtained medals for their collections.....

In future, all applications for medals awarded to individuals who died before the termination of the South African campaign (31.5.02) are to be transmitted to AG2, in order that the 'effects' papers, if any, may be referred to.

Action being taken by AG2C except in 9 cases in which are to issue after testing addresses of N of kin.
