Good day
I am doing my family history and recently learned that my GG Grandfather as well as his one son were awarded the QSA for duty in the Uitenhage Town Guard. Another of his sons (my G Grandfather) was awarded the QSA for duty with the Cape Railways. He was the train driver who was injured during one of Gideon Scheepers ambushes. Can anyone help with the Town Guard service records as well as how to find the 3 medals which as far as I know are no longer held within the family.
Many thanks in anticipation
Heather Ingle (nee Wassman)

Yes that is them. Thank you.

Christolph Jacob Wassmann born 1837 Germany (my great great grandfather, worked on the building of the Uitenhage Mechanical Workshops as a carpenter)

His two sons were:
August John Henry Wassman born circa 1865 Germany
Henry Ulric Wassman born 1866 Germany
The second 'n' of the surname was left off with their naturalization sometime 1904.
A third son (Julius Johannes Barend Wassman born 1863 Germany) also lived in Uitenhage and worked on the Cape Railways but no records for him found.

Christolph, August and Julius all died in Uitenhage (1915, 1945 and 1950 respectively) and are buried there. No photos.

Henry died in Port Elizabeth in 1959, he was my great grandfather, I do have photos of the gravestone. I have bought the book about Gideon Scheepers and have read about the train ambush.

Many thanks for the prompt responses.
H.
