I have a number of medals to men of the Highland Light Infantry who fought in South Africa in 1899-1902, and have one or more medals to all the following men, and am looking for their QSA and/or KSA to re-unite their full entitlement - grateful for details of any of these, or indeed any HLI medals you hold, as I record all those I have seen, and in most cases can offer some information on the man even if only to confirm medal entitlement etc.
With thanks in advance
Tom

Mike,
thanks for such a prompt reply. Details I have on your men are as follows (taken from medal rolls and HLI Chronicles) - 10/1895 means HLI Chronicle of October 1895 and covered the period approx May/June to August/September 1895.
Hope of some help (if only to confirm stuff)
Tom

Meurig,
many thanks for responding - it's always good to know what medals have survived. As you rightly say, Private Smith only received the Cape Colony clasp which suggests he may have been recuperated to the UK perhaps due to illness. I don't have his papers (if you have them and are happy to share them I'll include all his details in the records I have built up over the years), and there are only three entries in the HLI Chronicle on him, as follows:
04375 SMITH A 1892 Pte. 1st Btn. (H Co).
16/02/94Posted to 2nd Btn. in India.
23/01/96Granted Good Conduct Pay @ 1d.
He also received the IGS clasp Punjab Frontier 1897/98.
That's all I have - sorry can't help more
take care
Tom
