Dear all,
I would like to provide an update to my original post of almost 14 years ago. On February 5th, I received both an email and a message on messenger. I saw the message on messenger first and it read 'Hello, I have some news for you'. Yeah, sod off, bloody Nigerian scammer, I thought, so I ignored it and certainly did not click on it. Then I saw the email message entitled 'QSA to Chissel'.
As the green light was still on in messenger, I gambled that the two were connected and simply typed 'Ok' back in messenger. I was also reassured somewhat as the name of the individual on messenger, was a Simon Dickinson (which did not sound like a name that the Nigerian Minister for Home Affairs would use). He immediately messaged me back that he had found the medal to E Chissel.
My reply was 'My God. May I buy it ?'
Simon explained that it was on a dealer's site (The Medal Centre) and that he was about to buy it for himself but thought that he would run a check through the ABW site and saw my post of almost 14 years ago. Having seen this post that i am replying to, he thought that he would contact me first to see if I was still interested in buying it.
To cut a long story short, thanks to the kindhearted thoughtfulness of Simon Dickinson, an individual that I will be eternally grateful to, my relative's medal is now in my possession - back with the family - albeit a distant relative.
Andrew Jukes, who runs the Medal Centre was extremely accommodating, and I can recommend him to anyone wanting to buy from his shop, he is a delight to work with.
My own research disputes much of the write-up that accompanies the medal, but that is another story, the main thing is that after 14 years, it is now back with family.
Thank you ever so much Simon, I am overjoyed.
Andre
