Brigade Order 43 [SJAB] dated 22 April 1901 brings to notice 4 men:

I can't find a corresponding London Gazette entry (lack of skill possibly) and the Museum of Military Medicine hold no records of RAMC Corps Orders and can't help.

Three other members of SJAB were later mentioned in despatches by Earl Roberts and are found in LG War Office September 10 1901.

Are these 'mentions' of a differing order of importance? Is there a depositarry of RAMC Corps Orders?

I can't find them mentioned in the LG - to be MiD in the South African War 1899-1902 you had to be mentioned in a report by Buller, Roberts or Kitchener.

However I did find them mentioned in the Preston Guardian of 18 May 1901:

Eccles & Rogerson:

This is an extract from a long article in the Lancashire Evening Post of 6 January 1902. The article reports on a Preston Corps meeting at which about half a dozen members describe their SA experiences. One of the others was a policeman called Charnley who was involved with the concentration camps. The same meeting is also reported on the Preston Herald of January 8 but I think you will find the one in the Lancashire Evening Post the most interesting and informative.
