Are the coachmen caricatures of Brits? Chamberlain on the inside of the door I get but who is the man in the stocks. I was wondering about Rhodes for the gent in the bottom right hand corner.

I hope Neville won't mind me including his photo by René Bull, which is in my opinion a truly great and very witty image. What's more, it is completely un-posed. The armoured train, probing north from Frere (Nov 1899) stops to acquire intelligence from a young Zulu man (who is dressed in finery, for a ceremonial or courtship occasion).
