Hi,

Please can I get the support of the Afrikaans community; please can you confirm if I have translated this ok?

“Mr. L.C. Odendaal is still today disabled from the Battle of Bothaville.
Piet withheld his services due to this serious injury.
The Ou Baas Piet requested me to take action regarding the medal; thus, I would be grateful if you could please expedite it.”

Thanks.

Hi,

That seems correct, you could perhaps add the following at the bottom:

Thanks in advance

Looks spot on - ends with "Thanking you in anticipation." and, lastly, "Approved."

To me, what looks like 'Piet' is actually 'het'. I would therefore suggest :

Mr L.C. Odendaal is still disabled today from the Bothaville battle, has ceased his service as a result of this serious wound. The oubaas has asked me to take action regarding the medal, thus I should be glad if you would please expedite it.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Thanks Elmarie & Rory,

Arthur,

Thanks; I was absolutely convinced it was “Piet” but now that you have pointed it out to me I cannot unsee it!

Thanks,
Shaun

Having had another look, I think the word after "tog" is "seker", in which case that sentence would begin : "The oubaas has asked me to make sure about the medal ..."
