There is an interesting article in this month's Medal News on photographing the naming of medals by Adam Greenslade, Robin Clay and Martyn Lovell.

This photograph shows a bulb holder used to capture the naming,

Has anyone tried this?

Hi David

It's not a new concept and I've seen many iterations like your example before. Admittedly I've never tried it myself but, that said, I'm still firmly a believer in the old method where, through the use of a good cell phone camera, a decent background (black paper) and reasonably good natural light (you choose the right time of day that suits you); quality photos can be taken.

Regards

Rory

I agree with Rory..... This has been published in the OMRS Journal quite a few years ago..... Except I will have to buy a cell phone as I hate them LOL, my first weighed 35 pounds and 1/2 and hour battery life...... When retired swore I would never get one again......

It's always nice to show new collector's tricks of the trade in photographing medals. Thanks David.
