If I were to build replicas of the artillery used during the second Boer War, where would I find detailed plans for tis (Long Tom, Maxims/ Pompoms etc)?

Alternatively, where can I get hold of realistic replicas?

'The Hall Handbook of the Anglo Boer War' by Darrell Hall (University of Natal Press, 1999) has a section on Boer artillery with photos of the guns and their specifications. However, there may not be enough information for accurate modelling.

Ten years ago when I was still living in South Africa there was a Z.A.R. Staats Artillery re-enactment group complete with gun. I have no idea if this group is still in existence. They were involved with the Dundee Die-hards in the sense that they usually played the other side in their Boer War re-enactments. I think the Dundee Die-hards are still in existence. They might well be able to put you onto the Staats Artillery lads.

Cheers,

Mark
