Thanks for bringing that book to our attention. I have noted the patterns of blockhouses seen in wartime photographs and it would be interesting to see the developments. I seem to recall that some of the more strategic blockhouse lines were connected by telephone. A very modern approach. Additionally, certain recipients in our collections would have done at least some duty ion the blockhouse line; which can be a personal touch.

"The book is being printed and due to be delivered in November!! [2020] "Anglo-Boer War Blockhouses - A Military Engineer's Perspective" (Porcupine Press 2020) is 310 pages and full of interest for the casual and historical enthusiast. The book takes the reader through the concept of blockhouses, how they came to be used in South Africa by the British and the impact they had on the war!
