Can anyone tell me what I.H.L. is under punishment in a mans service documents...…
"H.L." I am sure stands for Hard Labour......
I have been transcribing the documents to a member of the Scots Guards who's medals I have just obtained.....
Not a very good conduct record I guess you could call him a "Queen's Hard Bargain.".....

It may seem obvious now Mike, but military acronyms can be tricky at times.
I had to check my archives on this one.

BTW I love a medal/group that tells a story....really looking forward to your submission on this one which sounds fascinating.
