A book about the Jarrow March that I bought today mentions that the oldest man who took part in the March was "Geordie Smith, 62, and a veteran of the Boer War."

There were two Smiths who officially took part in the march - George Smith, of Simpson Hostel, and Ralph Smith, of 28 High Street, both Jarrow addresses. 'Geordie' is surely likely to be George?

Geordie will appear somewhere in the photographs and film footage that were taken of the marchers.

Edit - Further on in the book, it does name George Smith as being aged 62.
