I am researching some of the men on the Boer War Memorial (1899-1902) at Darwen Lancashire. One of the men who lost his life is Trooper J Garsden W.D.M.T.

Can anyone help was to the abbreviations W.D.M.T and when was Trooper Garden loss killed

Could be:

Warrenton District Mounted Troops

or

Wellington District Mounted Troops

What is the mans name.....

A Tpr. J GARDEN of Rimmington's Guides was WiA at Graspan 24111899 and a Driver in the ASC named T.GARSDEN DofD at Winberg 26081900. GARDEN on GARSDEN?????

Sorry missed the name in the first posting......

In the book In Memoriam by Watt there is a:

85 Trooper J. Garsden, Wellington District Mounted Troops, Died of Disease, Cape Town 28/08/1900 and buried in Wynberg Cape Town......

Just for interests sake, his initial on the memorial in the St John's Anglican Church Cemetery in Wynberg is "E" all other details are the same. The East Lower Plaque is in a horrible condition.
