On the Dublin Fusiliers monument for the dead in the bore war in St Stephens Green Dublin there is a "J Wade" listed. I believe this points to a 2nd battalion who went by Joseph Wade who was more officially William Joseph Wade with a service number 2872.
When looking at the Romer index this name is listed twicehttps://www.angloboerwar.com/component/content/article?id=1601:romer-appendix with this service number. In the second listing he is recorded as wounded under the 5th regiment even though the monument records him as a part of 2nd battalion.
I'm very amateur at this type of thing. I just want to find clear info on J Wade as I believe he is an ancestor. I believe I also have his birth cert. Just looking to match and verify whereas much possible

Hi John,

I think the medal roll answers the "inconsistency"; he was from the 5th Battalion that was attached to the 2nd Battalion.

Refer below:

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

I'm assuming this means he was wounded and then died of his wounds later?
Is it possible to know anything else about this soldier? Like attached to his will, which could contain his parents name.

Thank you so much for the enlistment.

Is there a way to find death cert or his will. I searched Dublin sources for these but couldn't locate it
