Sorry for the self-promotion but some of you might find my new book interesting. The Military Papers of Field Marshal Sir George White, 1885–1900: Upper Burma, India, and South Africa. Part 3 deals with Ladysmith and the White's controversies after the war. It will be available this month.

Thanks! The best and cheapest way is to join the http://www.armyrecordssociety.org.uk/Joining.htmArmy Records Society . It only costs £25 pounds a year and you get the volume they publish each year, access to older volumes (and there are some good ones on the SAW), and you support the nonprofit. You can buy a pdf directly from Boydelll and Brewer or hardcover from amazon, etc.

Thank you Stephen,

This is certainly something I’d like to add to my library and I’ll have a look at the Society. I hadn’t made the connection and had failed to realise that you are the author of other Boer War related books including Lord Methuen and the British Army. Failure and Redemption in South Africa, which is also on my wish list.
Author of “War on the Veldt. The Anglo-Boer War Experiences of the Wiltshire Regiment” published 2024 by the Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Museum.
