Reginald Rankin (later Lt. Col.), older brother of Captain (later Brig. Gen.) C.H. Rankin, served as a Lieutenant in Rimington's Guides and wrote several books on military history including A Subaltern’s Letters to His Wife. (London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1901) about the SAW but does not appear in the name database. I do see a Richard Rankin in the R.G. which may or may not be a typo. Thanks
