Hello,

We are all probably very used to Black and White Budget which started in October 1899. Budget was a spin-off publication from a magazine called Black and White which started in 1891. Both were printed by the Black and White Publishing Corporation by Charles Norris Williamson.

There are some excellent quality images in B&W as can be seen in the copies available online in the newspaper archive from FindMyPast.

I believe the British Library should hold original copies but they are not appearing in the catalogue that is currently available online.

Might anyone know of any original copies in the UK please?

Thank you
David

PS In my search, I did come across this list of open-ish access Victorian publications: www.victorianresearch.org/openaccessperiodicals.html . It is open-ish as some are via Google Books but there are links to a range of publications in the Internet Archive which may be useful.

David,

I have the first four volumes of Black & White Budget (up to 13 April 1901), and all issues of Black and White Magazine covering the period 18 Nov 1899 to 31 March 1900. The large format magazine has many images that don't appear in the War Budget, and the quality of the printing is far better.
