I have a QSA/WWI trio to The Honourable Arthur Ernest Henry Eliot, brother to the Earl of St. German. This worthy who served as a Lieutenant, later Captain, with the SAMIF claimed to have been commissioned into Kitchener's Horse - a claim he often repeated (and possibly believed) in many newspaper reports in the early 1900's.

I always thought they were two separate entities? Am I wrong? Eliot does not appear on the nominal rolls of KH.

Hi Rory
I am so looking forward to your post regarding this chap.
What a character to research, this story is going to be very entertaining.
Mixed messages regarding Kitcheners Horse. Served as a Trooper in one report with K H
Robert's Horse also gets a mention as a Trooper. No evidence on rolls to prove it.
Royal Navy and his proposed time in the Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry militia is also recorded. A colourful character and potential black sheep of the family will make this research project an excellent addition to your fine collection.

I have unearthed plenty of material on Eliot Dave - this chap is the gift that keeps on giving. Almost Errol Flynn-like. Couldn't do it in this day and age - too many woke people and paparazzi about....

Absolutely Rory. I had a read about him last night. Unbelievable, I can only imagine how much fun you are going to have bringing this gentleman's exploits to the forum. No holds barred please, we need the full Monty on this story. :)

Rory,

That does sound fascinating.

Yes, they were definitely two separate units.

There are a few attestation papers for Elliot/Elliott but nothing for your man.

Look forward to your write-up/

Best wishes
David
