Two MICs to start you off plus roll. May be worth using Belfast records.

A very complete set of papers is extant in WO364, William James Steele was an eighteen year old labourer and a serving Militiaman in the 4th Royal Irish Rifles when he joined the "Lumps" on the 13th of May 1890, after an interesting initial period of service, which included actual Foreign Service, he transferred to the reserve on the 24th of April 1898, recalled to the Colours on the 9th of October 1899, he served in South Africa during the Anglo Boer War from the 5th of November 1899 until the 4th of March the following year, he would go on to see further service in South Africa as part of the garrison, after Vereeniging, certainly a most interesting man.

Thank You Frank......

I seems that Steele must be a common Irish name as when I looked in FMP there was a large number of them......

Will have to do more looking when I go to Dublin in the fall......

I think that is a particularly nice group and of the type that has become so much harder to find over the last decade, I would certainly be very pleased with it if I were you.
