Edgar Douglas Forster

Edgar joined Rimington's Guides at the beginning and WO 100/244 shows his eight clasp entitlement. It looks like he stayed on with Damant's Horse until April '01. WO 100/285 reveals that he then joined the Stellenbosch District Mounted Troops and appears to have been issued a duplicate set of medals!

Can anyone shed some light on what actions, if any, the SDMT may have seen?

If anyone has some ideas, or can point to some useful sources, I'd be grateful for input.

Forster joined Rimmington's Guides on the 5th of November 1899 and so yes, it was indeed the beginning, the regiment having been raised in Cape Town on the 12th of October, the DMT's were exactly that, part of the SAMIF, very localised units raised for the defence of the area concerned.
