Stirling (Our Regiments in SA) says that "the 4th Bn sailed from England about 15th December 1901 and after their arrival in SA took part in the closing scenes in the Orange River Colony, when the infantry held the lines and the mounted men did the driving".
Appendix II (Regimental Casualties, etc) in the rear of the Hayward Honours and Awards book shows 4th BN RB as serving Jan 02 to the end of the war and had 3 officer casualties and 27 OR casualties (8 DofD) on the ORC blockhouses.
The Services of Officers book shows L/Col. G.F.Leslie as being i/c 4Bn RB 17021902 to 31051902. OPs in Tvaal 2/1902, Ops in ORC Feb to 31May 1902. MID LG 29071902. He also served in thr 78-79 Afghan War and on the 1898 Nile Expedition.
