Returned Soldiers.

YASS, Tuesday.

Messrs C. JONES and W. MURPHY, returned soldiers, arrived today, and were met at the Yuss Junction by a brass band and about 200 townspeople. They were escorted into the town, and carried through Cooma Street on the shoulders of their comrades. They were then taken to the Mechanics' Institute and publicly welcomed by the Mayor. Mr W. Afleck, M.L.A., Mr T.H.A. Griffin, and Lieutenant Howard also spoke. The hall was packed, and the gallery crowded with ladies. Cheers were given for the returned soldiers, the ladies joining in the welcome. The soldiers were entertained in the Mechanics' Institute tonight. The Mayor presided and the hall was crowded. The public intends to present each of the soldiers with a gold medal.

YASS, Friday.

A number of friends of the returned soldier Messrs C. JONES and W. MURPHY, met at the Royal Hotel last night, and presented each of the soldiers with a gold medal, suitably inscribed. The Mayor, Mr S.E. Bradford, made the presentation. A very pleasant evening was spent, "God Save the King" being sung at the conclusion.

Returned Soldiers.

Yass, Wednesday.

Staff-Sergeant-Major H. PEARCE, Sergeant A. MAIR, Corporals H. MAIR, R McKINNON, and Lance-Corporal LEATHART, returned soldiers, arrived by the paper train to-day, and were met at the Yass Junction by a brass band and a great number of townspeople. They were driven into town in a drag decorated with flags and drawn by six grey horses, the leaders being ridden by two returned soldiers of the first contingent in khaki uniform. They were taken to the Mechanics’' Institute and publicly welcomed by the Mayor, Mr S.E. Bradford, and Lieutenant J.W. Howard, commanding the F Company of Yass volunteers. The hall was packed. Cheers were given for the returned soldiers. Tonight they are being entertained at a smoke concert in the Oddfellows' Hall.
